...does the refinished rear of that headstock/neck adjacent to it look like it’s hiding something?

Coincidentally, the crack on the front is on the same side as (what looks like) the repaired damage on the rear of the neck:

    I would always assume the addition of a stinger was hiding something... That's why Gibson did them in the first place.

    A break like that is not really cause for concern, and the guitar looks pretty nice other than that.  it wouldn't bother me at the right price

    Value should be for a refinished guitar with a repaired headstock crack.

    It does look a little suspect to say the least, but I'd quite happily have a stinger on an unbroken guitar too, so who knows!
