Found this January . If this had been my first new Les Paul in 1998 I may have saved some time and money ;-)

Very, very nice, similar to my 99 Standard that I've just had fettled (mine had uncovered pickups until 2 months ago!). Love me plain tops.

Tidy ! My pups are Bill Lawrence . I see many uncovered and can't see solder marks on mine so assume covers were aftermarket on these . The electrics too were all original but had to replace dodgy vol pots with 500k CTS . Pickup rings and guard also cracked so replaced .

I've got very fond memories of my old 89 les paul custom, still keep an eye out for it on sale.

Yours is very nice indeed, a great era.

Lovely ! Plain maple and flat finish look so much better than shiny flames.

I'm not usually a fan of Les Pauls, but that my friend is a thing of beauty. Hope it sounds as good as it looks.
My other passion is firearms! Does that make me a closet Redneck???

It was mostly stored past ten years as previous owner works on cruise ships . It really plays and sounds very good .

Very Nice - I have an 87/88 Standard here which I bought off a guy who had terminal cancer and was selling off all his gear, it was a very sad transaction and I promised I'd keep it and I have!!

This one was an "under the bed" guitar too for the last 10 or so years.

These early post-Norlin guitars are brilliant.

I bought first LP new in 1998 and was pretty underwhelmed with it , so ended up searching for what a nice Les Paul was meant to be . Had a few but this one I saw and liked the top and had gathered late 80s early Henry period had great rep . To be honest it rocks , well built , plays and sounds great , I thought it would kill my historics ;-)

    That's a splendid guitar.

My own Les Paul Custom is from 1989. I'll never be parted from it.

I bought it new in 1990, while intending to buy a Standard. I got a great price on it as it was the last year's stock, and the shop wanted rid of it for the newer guitars. I'm glad I went for the 1989 as it meant I got the Bill Lawrence pickups, which are brilliant.

Yeah I've heard stuff but the Bill Lawrence sound ace . I traded the 98 Standard for a 79 Custom , it was good but Wine not my favourite and it did sound bit polite , was heavy too . I have a whim for a Custom though sometime , perhaps a old early 70s .
