Ideas on colour for a Firebird Project

What's Hot

Hi guys,

I'm working on a Firebird project at the moment and the decision has been made to strip the paint off and redo it due to some issues with filling holes, neck pocket etc.

The project will also have a hand painted design on the front. I play mostly blues rock.

So, what do you think are some cool colours for a firebird style guitar?

    Orange flake would look super cool;;;

Too much gain... is just about enough \m/

Obviously this isn't a Firebird (and the scratchplate is the wrong colour), but you get the idea:

well sunburst is the ubiquitous one so let's assume you're avoiding that

think I've seen them in pelham blue which looks fab, kerry green also good, there's black which is a bit uninteresting

myself I'd go solar yellow, never seen one that colour, maybe a bit bold for blues rock but a good player can carry off any colour you like

If I was making a firebird project it would be pelham blue. I know Gibson already do that so maybe not so unique but it looks cool imo.

    Pelham blue is nice.

I took a punt on a random gold one someone had built on ebay - that works.

    Gold and pinstripe?

Yeah Pelham Blue.  Or aged Pelham Blue, which looks green, for @boogieman.

I like the gold though, that looks great.

I have a gold Strat.  Well, I have a gold Strat body.  Whether or not it ever gets assembled into a gold Strat is another matter.

Since it’s a Firebird, perhaps a Phoenix colour scheme of some sort?

  • Try shell pink with a black or tort guard.
Just so people are aware. I have no idea what any of these words mean.
