1st : @digitalkettle - love the swampy slide tone on this one and some nice lines throughout

2nd : @stratman3142 - really nice laid back and atmospheric vibe on this one.

3rd : @susbemol - nice tone and I really like those ‘outside’ runs that run through it.

Some nice playing and tones in all the entries though and it was a very enjoyable listen!

5 points : @digitalkettle : Redefined the track to make it into a 'swamp blues feel' (as stated earlier). Really expressive and inventive. A bit loud in the mix for my taste, but a stand-out (literally :) ) great solo.

3 points : @susbemol : Proper jazzy, in terms of feel and notes, as I remember your playing of old. Lovely expression. A composite of a number of Steely Dan guitarists' styles - I'm hearing hints of Carlton, Dias, Khan...

1 point : @Bellycaster : Another one that sounds quite a bit 'Steely Dan'. Lovely melodies and phrases.

Good range of entries all round.

1st: @digitalkettle - Nice vibe on this. Very evocative of swamps and alligators. Very much my top choice.

    2nd:
@susbemol - The sort of jazz stuff I can only pretend at doing. Lovely.

3rd: @stratman3142 - Atmospheric and enjoyable again. As mentioned above some lovely wang bar stuff too.

Apologies I'm a massive twat here,  it's past red wine o clock....

    I think the key to this backing rack was recognizing the dissonant tension in the track and out of all of us only one truly embraced that. And of course i  royally screwed up mine with my Benny Hill esque speeded up version lol  So;

    5 points @digitalkettle ; good dissonant tension
    3 points @mudslide73 I liked it more
1 point @Bellycaster i liked it but slightly less

Ps ignore me,  I'm a bit tipsy. Well done all.

Comforting to know that I'm not the only one that ends up in that place sometimes. Still you're amongst friends (at least from me).

I always enjoy your imaginative entries even though I don't always vote for them.

I might go for a jazz, blues style for the next SotM backing track as this one seemed quite popular. Unless anyone has any other ideas for a style that might be popular, in which case let me know by the end of Sunday (midnight 28th June).

Also, happy to use backing tracks provided by others.

    1st 8
    2nd 5
    3rd 7

dunno who each one was done by. Actually I thought there were 5 that almost scored equal 1st, or at lease joint 1st and 2nd.

    Excellent!

Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.

5 points: @stratman3142 - sweet tone (chorus?), careful note choice and subtle ornamentation. On repeat listens, it slowly unfolded like a...erm...fine wine
3 points: @susbemol - builds nicely...agree with previous comments about evoking Steely Dan
1 point: @Stinkfoot ;- well played, nice compressed snap to the tone...bit dry though

    ... - sweet tone (chorus?) ...

Thanks for the vote. The ampsim is a tweaked version of the Robben'ish preset in Helix Native. The slight chorus effect is coming from the delay, which is NI Replika XT on a Tape setting with 30% Wow & Flutter. I think the Tape setting, which includes a small amount of Tape Age and Saturation, sweetens up the tone slightly as well.

Nice busy month and cracking entries.

5 Points @digitalkettle You really made that your own. Loved it, it somehow evokes an image of a night driving scene from an Mid 80's crime Thriller that only exists in my head :)

3 Points @susbemol Excellently Jazzy, Bluesy and Fusiony all at the same time. A great variety of tasty licks and phrasing there.

1 Point @stratman3142 Nice slow, seductive vibe and a wonderful tone. Nice deft touches with the Trem as well really added to the feel of it.
