A quick comparison of several different slides. On electric:

On reso:

I prefer the heavier ones on the reso and the red glass or ceramic on the electric. What say you?

I have a bone one made by Bonerz that is my favourite but they wear out. Second is a ceramic.

I also have a couple of metal ones for lap steel and a special Eezee slide made by Basil Henriques. Best for pedal which I don't play anymore....

On electric I preferred the second one you used. There was a nice bit of throatiness about it where the others were quite smooth.

On the reso clips, I was kind of distracted by the fact that you play very nicely, and it's a tricone, yet there wasn't much sustain happening at all with any of the slides. Made me wonder if there's something up with the guitar. A tricone in good hands should sing a bit more than that? Hopefully you take that in the spirit in which it was intended...it's definitely not how you're playing!

Old strings? I find there can be no sustain playing slide with older strings.

I enjoyed the videos though. Thanks for posting @RickLucas

I've got a few slides but I also use a Rockslide brass slide for acoustic guitar and a Diamond Bottleneck for electric.

Thanks for the kind comments. The strings are quite old, to be honest...
