recommended postal service for returning a guitar

What's Hot
I may be returning a guitar and was wondering what service to people use. I have used UPS in the past as they were at the time the only service that covered musical instruments.  i need around £500 cover.

I’ve shipped a guitar back with APC via overland express, and recently sent a case with them
to a fellow fretboarder. No issues.

You can specify the levels of cover needed so might be worth a look.

I think they cover instruments too but read the t+c’s again in case.

I'd personally be tempted to use the same courier the shop did. Unless it was Hermes.

If you bought online and are raising a return through the shop, they will usually set up the courier.

  • it was shipped to me by DPD from guitarguitar - they are asking me to arrange my return . DPD dont appear on any of the comparison sites and even by going onto their site directly you cant get a price - not sure if size is an issue

Yeah dpd wont. I had the exact same issue.

They must have different rules for business because I couldnt ship a guitar size and weight via them either.

I sent An Ouija £1500 back to guitarguitar with Apc via overland express, was the cheapest I could get it and it arrived safe and sound the next day after collection.

GG wont arrange unless its being returned as faulty.

Andertons will arrange a collection via DPD and debit the cost (£15) from the refund. Bargain really. Its over double that to ship for us mere mortals

  • Just shipped a guitar to a fellow fretboarder using APC Overland express, super fast, no problems and it was actually insured properly for a bargain price. Can’t see myself ever using any other courier for musical instruments

UPS are the only ones I know who insure an instrument of significant value, without charging more than about £25.  Without insurance, the worlds your oyster

  • Ups come up close to £50 when I checked yesterday
