That is bellow my office and went their many a lunch time to buy a set of strings. This is a sad day.

I basically lived in that whole area for so many years, throughout the '80s and '90s we all grew up around the scene there. The Marquee and Pillars were where we all hung out as teenagers, then I worked in guitar shops, so it was all a stomping ground of my miss spent yoof innit.

Bit of a lump in my throat watching that, always found it a nice place to shop and browse back in my London days.  Loved Charing Cross Road and Denmark Street in the 80s. Full of second hand book shops, soft porn places - the Astoria, The Marquee as well as the guitar shops.

What the f--k have they done to it - everything now is about return on investment for shareholders and landlords. How about the emotional health of the country, taking this hub of creativity and history away is a crime and the government should step in and support this slice of our musical history :-(
