    Postage a bargainous £48.

Also check out his two butchered Strats.

Alan Knight, or Big Al, is a guy from Kent who customised guitars (Fender and Gibson) to be relic'ed and was so good that at one point they tried to stop him.”

“They” did try to stop him, but not for that reason...

At some point in its life that was probably a nice looking  guitar. Shame that it it looks like ass now.

I really don't get this relic'ing thing and paying over the odds from a factory fresh guitar. Your guitar is going to pick up the odd knock and will get play wear on it anyway eventually.

That's a fair price reliced by the  French master, Screwloose Lautrec in his brown period.

How much should a new one be about 1700 1800. Id probably give him £800 for it if I had the money. Cheap way of getting one  I guess if he went for it lol

I follow the guy who is quoted as doing the relicing on this on Instagram...his work is very impressive if you like relicing (and of course if you’re in the “I don’t get it” camp that’s an impossibility because it’s all ridiculous ... you wouldn’t buy a car and pay extra for them to scratch it etc etc). He will have completely stripped and refinished the guitar from scratch, aged all the hardware etc etc. I think he charges around £1500 and there’s a long lead time so what you’d essentially be paying for on this is a premium to not wait. Again, if you think relics are ridiculous then any amount for the work would be unjustified, but beyond that this maybe isn’t as comical as it appears at first.

What a waste of a nice lp

Looks like a shitty chewed dog toy

If anyone needs a relic job, I can kick the shit out of your guitar & drag it round with the tractor for a very reasonable £500  :anguished:  form an orderly queue

I could post any number of Tom Murphy relic jobs that look just as bad.
This is a quarter of the price at least.

Honestly, to me, that looks no worse than any of the relics you see coming from custom shops everywhere.   It looks unloved and beaten up and that's it.  But then I don't get the whole idea.

After hypothetically being kicked around that much, does it also have an imitation headstock break? :)

Some of TM's heavy relic styles certainly do look quite close to the relic art guys.... they both have a tendency to go for a shotgun blast approach to heavy wear areas.   both do reasonable examples of light relics, but unrealistic versions of heavy relics

Here is one of Tom's that has the shotgun look

i don't mind the unrealistic look as a style - i love this ESP

  • I actually really like well done relic guitars but that is a dreadful relic job.

Given that Trads on the used market are £1000-1300, not sure where the extra 2K in value comes from that truly dreadful relic job

    I wouldn’t pay £750-800 for it now

Agree, that's horrific, but still not as the one in the OP.

Edit: On reflection, I think it's actually worse than the one in the OP!
