    Love it!

As people can probably tell from the 'EC Retiring' thread, I love EC - and J J Cale was just fantastic.

I really don't care how 'uncool' this may be considered.

    Thanks for posting!

Nice tribute to JJ. Will def be buying the album when it comes out at the end of this month.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

Just listened to the whole album. It's very good .. an excellent country blues vibe going. Cool songs [by JJ Cale] and some well known artists that keep old Clapton on his toes. I will certainly buy a copy ..

Is this the Call Me the Breeze track? I quite like that, sounds more 1974 than 2014 and that's probably a good thing.
Tipton is a small fishing village in the borough of Sandwell.

It is indeed. Wouldn't sound out of place on "461 Ocean Boulevard"

Wow, like that a lot. Possibly the best stuff he has done for a while.

  • Gave this time to get fully listened to properly and this is the best album Clapton has put out in a long time and a fitting tribute. Glad I purchased.

  • That video is really cute; bought my dad the "On The Road To Escondido" album when it came out, quite enjoyed it my self, although im not a huge Clapton fan my self.

Im officially awarding EC extra points for this song & vid. Referential, sentimental, and a wee bit of levity thrown in for good measure.

    "So, where's Escondido then?"
"Hmm.. Somewhere in California i think."
"Bit of a trek for me, isn't it?"

    Brilliant.

Tis a tribute to JJ, but otherwise I agree.  I don't follow Clapton closely, but every time I see him he's noodling over a 12-bar blues, he's great at it, but it's a bit "meh" now.

There's a reason Clapton's last solo studio album was called "Old Sock". Boring as an old sock. What a waste. His best stuff was the early stuff and with Cream, without a doubt.

  • this was his first album in a long time with a purpose.

His recent albums have been about "putting an album out", this one is to pay tribute to JJ and as a result I think has proper thought and effort behind the songs, great album.

Old Sock wasn't great - but the guy's nearly 70!

The laid back feel of J J Cale's songs suit Eric well in later life.

Knopfler's performance on the album positively reeks of early Dire Straits. Which is a good thing btw.

The whole Cale/early DS/70s Clapton thing was a big influence on me, so for me it's great to hear a whole album of it.
