Orange DIVO OV4 - self install ?

Has anyone had any experience of installing the "self install" kits?

I ordered one which arrived today but the only documentation supplied with it says it has to be installed by an Orange service centre - WTF? How is that a self install kit lol

Does anyone know where I can find some some installation instructions for this or is it really better installed by a tech?

TIA!

Knowing vaguely what it does, I suspect it's not really an easy install.

What amp are you putting it in?

  • It's the bolt on kit rather than the one that goes into the guts of the amp which I'd definitely not be qualified to do.

There are two flying leads which I suspect are earth leads but without instructions can't be sure...

I was planning on putting it into a Bogner Shiva

  • Have you checked the tubesync site? Might give you a clue.

  • I did find my way there but couldn't find an install manual and the pics weren't quite detailed enough for me to see exactly where the flying leads were going.

I did finally manage to find the right spot in this video at about 8:40 which indicates my suspicions on the flying leads were correct.

Just feels a bit wrong to be relying on a goofy Rob Chappers video for amp tech instructions though haha

If the kit is intended to be installed outside the chassis, the flying leads must be ground connections - it wouldn't pass safety regulations otherwise.

  • Thanks ICBM - it is the kit to be mounted outside the chassis, so good to hear I was thinking in the right direction.

So despite the manual's protestations, it does appear that this kit is a bolt on install.

    Cheers!
