Well, finally able to post this!
so with lockdown I had a good mess about with what gear I had and a bit of a think what I was using and wasn’t, what I might be missing. So a couple of guitars moved on to free up space and cash and here’s the result...
well, the eventual result. Sadly it had arrived with a warbling noise that a bit of an investigation identified as likely being some screws missing for tightening the vibrola to the body. So after a bit of back and forth with Gibson and GuitarGuitar some screws arrived this morning. Installed them and problem solved.
So drama of that aside, I absolutely love it. The neck is a touch chunkier than the 59 medium C but that’s the neck it’s aping. I was really on the fence about the vibrola in general but it’s a nice tool to have on the box and it looks to be set to stay in tune even with a fair bit of use. The pickups though...my word. Fair warning that they don’t like high gain much, but light overdrive and vintage crunch or a bit of hair and they’re absolutely incredible. Got such a nice open feeling and chewiness to the sound that it’s addictive.

The 57s are nice pickups, had them in a Les Paul and liked them.
The nylon saddles are quite soft though so could see why they’re supposed to help.
I was just looking at the Wildwood site and they have half a dozen '64-spec SGs in stock, all with stop tailpieces. The only difference from the '61-spec seems to be the bigger neck - and the nylon saddles.
$5,099 each though, unfortunately. Plus shipping and import fees.
Glad you got the screw issue sorted. Either I read that on another forum, or someone else had the same issue of screws missing from the Maestro on a Custom Shop.
I've been considering adding one of these to my collection. Are you still playing and enjoying it after the honeymoon?
