No worries. Did you see the diagram I drew? I used the steps you had written and that's what I came out with.

After looking at the type of switch it could be though I'm not sure as the datasheet for it numbers all each 8 pin differently. I tried to link that, but the link for it wouldn't open.

The confusion stems from the difference between the terminal numbering conventions for your eight-in-line PCB switch and the CRL type illustrated in Seymour Duncan wiring instructions.
