There is a good sound to be had from most amps. Simply mess around with the volume and tone controls and you will find it. If you need more volume, mic up the cab.

Jackson Soloist into an ADA MP1

LP into a Marshall is famous for a reason and I really like that, but I have to say I really like a good strat into a JCM800 as well. Usually with a drive but it gives a much more open sound than humbuckers.

Precision into an Ampeg SVT and / or B15

I think this is the thing with certain amps, they are almost transparent.

My 800 sounds drastically different depending on which guitar I plug into it. And that is one of its appeals for me.

Cheers. Yeah that's a couple of small Wem combos in the photo. A clubman and a Westminster. My dominator I stripped and rebuilt into a head.
