What discount on new guitar with headstock repair

What's Hot
Been offered a guitar I have been craving with a 40% discount on the new price

It's a very good repair from a great guitar dealer

Would a headstock repair effect a guitars tone or playability

    If done well, no.

40% is about the right discount. It means you can still probably re-sell it without a great loss if it eventually bothers you enough that you're not comfortable with it, since it will inevitably be worth a fair bit less than an unrepaired one.

What guitar is it? If it's a Gibson it might affect the value slightly less since it's such a well-known problem with them.

  • If it’s been carried out by a good repair centre then yes it will be fine.

I’ve bought two Gibson guitars that both had neck breaks but I had proof that they were repaired by Mansons. So knew it was a professional and solid repair

  • This is a prs se hollowbody ii piezo so relatively low end. I have wanted one for a while. Its also a coda workshop repair so will be decent.

a broken PRS headstock is a very rare event - I'd suspect either a serious bang or a 'defect' within the wood - But either way a rare beast indeed - But 40% sounds  a good deal, assuming the 'touch up' to the finish doesn't look untoward
