In reference to a Fender Tele (1973), if a description says a "Standard 'B' neck profile" what does this mean?

    Typo,  'B' being next to 'V' & one away from 'C' ?

  • Think that might mean the width at the nut. B being standard and A being slimmer - like on some of the student guitar necks of the 50s and 60s

    Cheers,
So one way or other it's an error.
Either the B should another letter....or neck width rather than neck profile

Yes, the A, B, C, D necks were nut widths, starting at 1-1/2" for A then going up in eighths of an inch I think - so B was 1-5/8" and the others were too wide to be playable....

Apparently there are some 50s/60s Fenders with a 1-11/16" nut which is common nowadays, but would have fallen in between B and C in those days.

I thought they'd abandoned that system before the 1970s though.  Perhaps not.
