Well, the weekend was busy...

Firstly this, by way of a trade - 2008 USA Standard with some funky mods - the DiMarzios sound great:

The SH-1000 was just dirty, with lots of gritty pots and dead contacts, whereas the OB12 was suffering the (usual) problem of needing re-initialisation - however, in this case, doing so isn’t just a case of ‘button press and power-up’ - you have to completely re-install the OS from scratch...

The first problem is getting the software loader to talk to the MIDI interface, folllowed by getting the interface to talk to the OB12 (quite common issues with this synth). The next issue was choosing the sequence to load the software - you’d think the boot file first (and that’s the received wisdom), except it doesn’t work (at least in this instance). Anyway, I persevered and was eventually rewarded with...

I was thinking the same on the preset synth as I scrolled down - Then I saw the OB12 - Oberheims and Sequential Circuit synths used to sound so phat 

Are Oberheim still owned by Gibson ?

Mr H7 - What is an OB12 worth now - I know some old synths go for big/silly money

I doubt that the OB12 falls into that category. It is, shall we say, not on the analogue cork-sniffer purists' shopping list. (Any more than my Creamware ASB modules would be.)
