Photo quality isn't that great but you get the idea.
Vintage mahogany looking a bit like a nice old SG. But without neck dive or a wobbly neck!

Neck pickup is lovely, split sounds are lovely. Bridge pickup could do with a bit more treble bite so it will either get a Pearly Gates or I'll rip the whole lot out and put actives in it!

And, very important to me as I get older, only 6lb 9oz.

It was a bit of a punt as I had no idea what the "Pattern Regular" neck was like and I know I find the Wide Fat / Pattern neck a bit bit... and it turned out perfect. Really comfy neck indeed.

Tomorrow it will have some proper strings on it and set up for C-C. Maybe with the bridge getting blocked off depending on how I feel and whether I want to be able to swap to Drop B flat easily.

I’m so bored I might as well be listening to Pink Floyd

Congrats, these S2 PRS are really appealing and I love the raw finish in them, bet it feels great in the hand?

It does. Really lovely in the hand. The rocker in me wanted gloss black but I don't get on with painted necks.

I'm actually warming to the pickups now. I'll leave it a couple of weeks before I make my mind up

Very nice :) I've wanted one of these in 22 fret for a long time. As you say that pattern regular neck is great, so comfy!

Did you get it off the board?

I have a little pot set aside for a floating fourth electric, an S2 is on the list along with a Gordon Smith.

Very cool.  The satin finishes are very appealing, I wish I'd bought a Singlecut Standard Satin while they were available (there are still a few around, but it's a shame PRS discontinued them).

I can't quite make up my mind about the Pattern Regular neck.  If I've been playing my Fenders with massive necks, the PRS necks feel too skinny, but recently I've been quite PRS-minded and I'm liking the S2 necks... whether they're too thin or not, the actual neck shape is very comfortable.

That's quite possibly the nicest PRS I've seen.
A good no-nonsense workmanlike all business instrument.

    Nice purchase!

I know some people hate the birds, so my question is...if this model had birds instead of dots would you have bought it?

    Yes.
I’m not really bothered by aesthetics.

That’s really similar to my old one.

The finish wears away nicely from the arm contour after a few years.
I really wish I hadn’t sold both of these.

Both! Is the left one a Vela and the right a 24?

    I quite fancy a Vela. It’s a great design.

Pearly Gates bridge position humbucker will imbue the guitar with a permanent midrange honk.

My first move would be to replace the Alpha pots with something American.

Knowing which pickup model you have in the bridge position might help if choosing to swap magnet material. e.g. Changing from A2 to A5 would increase high frequencies and scoop out some mids. Unoriented sand-cast A5 is certain to add grittiness.

IMO, the Seymour Duncan Saturday Night Special or Whole Lotta Humbucker models might be more appropriate.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

The Pearly Gates is my favourite pickup on earth. I’ve had it in many different guitars.

    I know what I’m doing.

I love ‘em in the neck position but not in the bridge position.
