There's one of these for sale near me.  As I recall, they got very good press (apart from the usual whingeing about the non-USA pickups) and I am somewhat tempted.

Any thoughts before I push the button?

  • Do it, they're lovely - especially in the blueburst finish.

    If you're lucky then some of the earlier ones have a USA PRS 57/08 fitted in the bridge too

    I have one (the red burst and sadly no 57/08).  I don't play it much (LP shapes just don't seem to work for me) but, by a strange coincidence, I've been using it this morning to run through the set list for one of my bands.

    Nice guitars.  The neck is a good hand full and the build quality is good.  How much are they asking?  From memory I paid c£700 new a few years ago.

  • Great guitars, earlier ones did have usa pickups in them I believe

    Yeah, the first ones were definitely advertised as having 57/08s.  If the one that you are looking at has these (it just be the bridge, there's a P90 in the neck) then it's definitely wortha look (as long as the price is right).  The 57/08 is a great pickup (I have one in my Studio 22) and they retail at a couple of hundred quid.

  • Bernies are 24.5 @rlw ;

    You won't be disappointed with any part of this guitar. From the woods used to the stellar hardware, the Bernie Marsden delivers vintage power and precision. Based on the popular PRS 245 model this guitar has a 24.5" scale length for a more traditional feel while still keeping that PRS tonal character that we've all come to love

  • The first batch of these came in the Black Stone Cherry burst colour and did include the USA 57/08. Next up was the Kentucky Blue burst and again these had the USA 57/08. The last version came out with a slightly lower rrp and was fitted with the Korean 57/08 that is modeled on the USA pickup. I have heard many say the Korean 57/08 sounds fine so looks like its still a great guitar if you cannot get one of the earlier versions with the USA pup.
