Greetings folks,
I'm making a fair bit of headway on my doubleneck build, and I shall update the build thread for it, but right now I need a bit of advice on how to proceed with the finish.
I am at the stage of sealer coats on, first clear colour coat just applied. All nitro from
@SteveRobinson . The colour is from a Clear Blue can, and the green burst bit was a little yellow water based stain from Crimson Guitars. I had hoped the fade to be more subtle, but Im happy with it.
My question is two-fold. Originally I had planned on a narrow PRS-smokeburst style edge fade of black, covering the edge of the top, the sides, and the edge of the back. The rest of the back is to be natural.
However, I actually quite like the mahog/ash boundary on the sides, and the mahog has more interesting figure to it than I expected.
So :
1 - Do I proceed with a narrow black faded edge?
2 - If so, would it look daft just on the top, with the black stopping hard at the ash/mahog boundary?
3 - I also have a can of clear yellow - I could try softening the green-blue fade
4 - If a black fade, do I take it to roughly where the green stops?
5 - Any other suggestions?
Here is the body, currently hanging in my garage. (And there's a sentence to be cautiously spoken in public!) The contrast seems much greater on the photo than in actuality.

I think it looks okay as it stands and wouldn't add anything. People more creative than me might have other ideas though!
