Has anyone played or own the reissue? I'm very tempted to get one and ease my infatuation with pink 80's shredders.

Agreed. Especially when FMIC put Duncans and a Floyd Rose 1000 in cheaper Charvels.

Its a Rip off to get the older generation ,Peter Pan Syndrome sufferers ,to go out and waste their money.

see I can see the argument with the floyd rose but otherwise it doesn't seem that under spec'd or am I missing something glaringly obvious? 

Sadly the OG ones are beginning to fetch daft money now.

Unless you need it to have the Fender name there are better options out there.

So would I.

I had one of the original HM Strats from Soho Soundhouse and it cost me £250 new at the time. It was a decent guitar. However, I recently bought a used Charvel San Dimas off here for around £400 and it absolutely smoked it for tones, playability and looks.

As a slight aside, I've been very interested in the rather Suhr Pete Thorn-looking Fender Modern Japan (twin humbuckers with the binding). Yep it looks good but the one I tried this week was poorly finished, needed a new nut cutting, had unfinished fret ends and could do with both a set-up and fret dress. Also, the trem arm would not pop into place and stay and the hole for it had been badly engineered. It could be a one-off but that too was similar money to the re-issued HM Strats and it wasn't good.
