A bizarre and disconcerting story.  Quite why this could not have been solved by reasonable discussion I can’t imagine.  Presumably the situation escalated out of a lack of patience on one side or the other, or perhaps both.  Very sad indeed, and even more surprising that this should happen here in Britain, and now.  I think the buck stops with the court/judge/magistrate - surely the whole purpose of their role is to apply common sense and good judgment?

1: Dont trust a blog post, It’s not the judgment or a transcript of the hearings.
2: He wasn’t jailed for playing music too loud. He was jailed for breaching the restraining order.

Not the same thing. It’s his own fault.
