MPC Beats - any users?

Alesis has mailed me with an offer of a free copy of their DAW MPC Beats.  Now, I write and record songs, using GarageBand and Logic, in the traditional way.  I’m not even sure I really know what ‘beats’ are.  Am I likely to find any use for this package?

You are more likely to receive constructive replies in the Other Instruments section. 

"Beats" usually refers to both programmed drum/percussion rhythm parts and looped audio samples - either percussive or pitched.

You should find the step time programming capabilities of MPC Beats matched in Logic's A.I. Drummer section, under Electronic.

That’s great Funkfingers, thank you.  All the same, the term always makes me cringe a bit, like when we had to endure Kevin Bacon going on about ‘ you can listen to your bangin’ toons . . “ in the EE ad.
