I currently have a guitar on back order with him. I will do a post on here reporting my experience once I have the guitar.

Having seen numerous examples of rude and aggressive behaviour from him I’m reluctant to use Richards. Problem is he is the main Furch dealer in the UK and I think my next guitar will be a Furch.
I bought my Furch in October from Project Music so there are other dealers. Can’t fault the service I got from them.
Project are great. They have some decent brands as well. I got my Maybach from them after visiting the shop to look at the Eastmans. Just know that visiting them could be expensive

I will add that the GS Tele was advertised as "with GS deluxe hardcase" but at the point of purchase Richard pulled out a gig bag. I said "hang on" and showed him the website listing. He did not quibble at all, said "fair enough, I'll get another case from the distributor" and immediately handed over the deluxe case he had in stock.
    This one goes to eleven

    Trading feedback here

Not sure about the free "value added" inspection and setup for items bought physically at the store.  As far as I understand he recently changed to "appointment only", but it seems that this has been relaxed and you can now just walk in, although the "contact us" on the site says that customers with appointments take priority over those that don't.  See HERE.

Looking at buying an Eastman Acoustic from these chaps. All very good so far via email etc. Anything to be worried about? I've given up hoping to find one locally (even if I work near bleeding Regent's Street)

I’ve bought a couple of guitars from him with no issue.

I think it largely depends on the phase of the moon at the time and whether you say anything even a teeny-weeny bit less than 5-star rated about the guitar, the website or him.

Mine was a delivery buy, not from appointment, just online.

They forgot the certificate of authenticty on my eastman.
They didnt set it up as asked/at all. I dont rate their set up/tech, which is the supposed appeal.
The packaging/box it came in didnt look like the original, more a load of old cardboard stuffed in for padding, much older eastman box that had multiple postage stickers on it.
Product itself as you would expect.
    Customer service was quite cheesy.
The photos of the guitars on the website are not actual guitars, so do ask for photos of the actual guitar if not going in for appt.
Id buy there again if the guitar i wanted wasnt available elsewhere though and haggle a bit more off price and by pass the set up/waiting game.

    Dont worry, be silly.

I think that’s a little harsh.  I think he is much better than forums used to say he was like, and he always espouses passion for guitars.  That’s not a bad thing .  These days I see so much more positive comments and reviews than anything negative.

Thanks folks. I ended up going with Peach in the end as it was cheaper (no quibble on cost when I mentioned best price sadly). Chap I chatted to was sound though.

  • Quite a good read that thread. Total 360 for me. I like those. I started off thinking Richard is a bit of a nob and ending thinking the OP is a whingeing drama queen who probably loves leaving online reviews. He's probably still upset about it.

Richard has always been, um, a 'character' even from the old Regent forums days but definitely seems to be a bit of blame for both sides on this one. I did proper laugh at the 'I can see what you're typing' though. Always worth remembering that for website chat interactions
