Nowt silly about acupuncture, worked brilliantly for me and is provided on the NHS as a complimentary therapy so I wouldn't poo poo it out of hand
I poo poo it because there has never been any evidence that it works and any of the many attempts to produce such evidence has shown that it doesn't work.

Wouldn’t be much of a change. I’d still have thousands of pounds’ worth of stuff that I don’t really need....

Either Saxaphone or Piano are the instruments that I would turn to I think. But my passion is really the guitar.

I can't play anymore because I had a stroke that made my left side fairly useless. Most people would say it's an improvement.
Now, I spend all my time on this sodding forum.

  • I'd try keyboards and get a drum machine, or drum pads and record that way.
What about lap slide guitar? eg. squareneck dobro or an electric slide, like the gretsch? Not sure how hard it would be on your elbow though...

I'd go back to cartooning and portrait painting ( if my fading eyesight would allow me ) :)
Was only watching Bob Ross the other day! Would love to be able paint. Pretty therapeutic I reckon.

  • I'd be a bit buggered...it's how I relax, and how I earn my living. I think I'd have to get more adept at composing with midi instruments to try and find an outlet instead.

Have you looked at acupuncture ?
Not yet. I am trying to have a little break over the festive period to see if that helps. I always found that certain neck profiles would lead to elbow and wrist issues but lately it seems it is any guitar.

    Someone mentioned CBD oil..
If you do go for any of the silly gimmicks that people suggest, please only do so as well as real medical advice and treatment, not instead of.

Note the use of the word 'complimentary' as opposed to 'alternative', which was an exceedingly poor choice of word. Acupuncture [and homeopathy and Reiki and all the rest] can prove to be effective, in just the same way that placebos can, and most likely for the same reasons, albeit at a higher cost. Same thing happens when you take an antibiotic and half an hour later you start feeling better... that benefit hasn't come from the direct action of the antibiotic, as they simply don't work that quickly.

If I couldnt play guitar anymore I’d probably get a girlfriend and do that for a bit.
They‘re very expensive to run, and you can normally only try one out at a time. I’d look at doing something less stressful.
    Karma......

    I am wondering this too.

I've properly ruptured the tendons in my right hand middle finger. I play bass fingerstyle.

I have the next 3 months in a split and then loads of hand therapy to look forward to.

I can sing, but it's been a long time and it's not the same as jamming at home.

I’m so bored I might as well be listening to Pink Floyd

    Thanks Voxman.

I've had pain in my left hand recently and it worries me. I figure its playing with heavy strings on an acoustic.
If it got to the point that I couldn't play anymore...I dunno. Its been such a huge part of my life. I could throw myself into drawing, it would have to be something creative with techniques or skills to learn.

I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

Similar, I have pains in my left hand too sometimes...early rhumatoid arthritis connected to my psoriasis. I take a Naproxin anti-inflammatory when needed.

One of the problems of getting older..all the wrong things get stiff!
