Years ago I mated a futurama body (threw the rebranded neck away, it was that bad) with an abandoned spare ebony board neck a friend built. It was a fun thing but has sat in a bag for 13 years at my parents house.

Pulled it out and I think I can get something more musical out of it now

However.....I hate red guitars so I decided to refinish it.

I first thought to strip the red below the plastic however that only made the large amount of cracks more visible. So changed the plan, superglue repaired the cracks and started flat sanding the bumps for a top coat instead.
Roughed the top to 360 grit.

And this is after 4 coats of Rustoleum hammered spray paint. It seems to be adhering ok with no problems and in the neck pocket gap too. The back is red wrapped vinyl so that will stay as it's too much hassle to redo.

The neck is slightly shorter scale than the original so I've plugged it and once the top coat is hard will install it and drill 2mm further away from the neck pocket edge so it intonates more logically.

    And "done"

Wiring has new aluminium tape underneath.

The piezo works but is very low in output so unless I add a preamp it's not adding anything when blended.
