De Lisle Amp-Speaker Selector 4×4 Deluxe

Has anyone any experience of these units. You plug in an input from a guitar or effects unit and can plug in up to 4 amp heads and 4 speaker cabs and select any combination of amp and speaker (one amp, one speaker). The unit provides a load to the non selected amps to ensure they function correctly and don’t get damaged. There is also a loop to add in an attenuator. I’ve seen a couple of similar products such as Ampete and KHE which are more expensive.

I can tell you he's a much respected and highly rated maker of things over on the Gretsch boards but no knowledge of any individual kit.

Looks like a well-thought out solution to the perennial problem. I've got a hacked up 1U rack box I use with patch cables rather than switches, but it's not foolproof against accidentally unloaded amps if I don't concentrate!

I might upgrade to something like this.

Tempted. The 4x4 is affordable, but the 8x8 would suit me better and let me plug in most of the 'amp wall'.

I've got a couple of questions for the De Lisle guy, but there's no email address for him to send and ask. :(

Also saw that there's a Spanish maker of similar: https://www.kahayan.es/accesories - about £750 for the 8x4 from the UK distributor: https://kazbarsystemsinc.com/product/kahayan-8x4-amp-speaker-selector

For me, the perfect device would have a simple Watt-meter for the selected amp. That way I could instantly see if I was pushing a 1x12 Alnico Blue and switch on the attenuation loop. I have a Palmer PGA-04 that has a simple Watt-meter LED ladder but ISTR it switches off the meter when not acting as a load.

  • I have 2 of the 8x8 De Lisle amp switchers and I’ve had no issues with them.   I slave one into the other so that I can have up to 15 amps sharing my cabs.  I had his 4x4 units in the past and he has always been responsive when I have had questions.

Can’t seem to quote properly... so here we go:

i have a kahayan 8x4 but the one with the midi option which has an extra slot for an attenuator going for all my amps / cabs combination.

I am really happy with it - not having to spend 10min each time I want to switch amp! The option to run multiple cab was also an ear opener as to the strong differences between my speakers / cab options.

Food for thought - thanks. The 4x4 isn't quite enough, but the 8x8 is really overkill. An 8x4 with attenuator loop would probably be fine.

I received my De Lisle 4 x 4 pro plus this morning and it is absolutely spot on. I also got the Dropbox 50w attenuator that Jer heavily discounted for me. That also works nicely and is a decent bit of kit for the money. I haven’t used the line out yet but will update once I’ve put it through its paces for a good stint.
