Grounding Wire Gibson

Hi. Just a quick one. I snapped the ground wire on a Firebird project. Consequently it’s now too short. A bit of research suggests it’s just this stuff that they use?

Just use a piece of a G string.

It just needs to be a conductive link between the strings and the pot... I usually use whatever spare  wire I have closest at hand.

Yes.

I don't actually use that though, I use bare copper wire from household (ie wall) electrical cable. It's thicker so it produces a tighter compression between the wall of the hole and the post insert, and it's easier to bend into place in the control cavity.
