Next project. Averagely priced/built Partsmaster...

What's Hot
Finally time to undertake a build myself, or with as much of my physical input as possible. It would be a good lesson for me to finally learn how to intonate a guitar etc and fix common issues. Thinking of a JM body.
Apart from a custom body, are those Squier Affinity bodies any good as a platform? I am guessing, based on a squier strat I had, that they'd be pretty light (down to the quality maybe).

Squier Affinity guitars and basses sometimes have a slimmer than normal body depth. This limits the maximum depths of the routed cavities. That, in turn, may rule out push-pull pots, "proper" CRL format selector switches and some vibrato bridges.

With direct-to-body mounted pickups, there is a risk of drilling right through.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

  • @Funkfingers good to know. I never thought of that. I've had a few JMs over the years, one HH in particular drove me mad with strings popping off bridges etc, hence the affinity query (and add WRHBs etc)
