New Acoustic Discovery

I didn't know whether to put this in the music section or here.

Terrific version, well, I think so, of Chaka Khan's "Ain't Nobody" and lovely, full and percussive playing by Jon Gomm!

There's actually a tele ad at the moment using a different acoustic version of this song and I can't find it.  - that's what prompted my search and when I made this discovery. Found a great KT Tunstall version but I don't think it's that.

Anyone?
EDIT: Found it and it's for a new Sainsbury's ad. Actually, I think I prefer the Jon Gomm one that I found

  • That was bloody amazing, KK. It shows that guy has mastery of his instrument. Whereas I could learn the "Guitar Parts" to that song, this guy just says..."F**k it, I'm gonna do the whole lot.....and then some".

On the other points, I think it should have gone in the "Music" section even though it's acoustic. I don't know the advert you mention either, sorry.

Don't know if you agree,KK, but, on the old unmentionable place, what gets posted on here in the "MUSIC" section was called "General Discussion" and seemed to generate more chat and most of it was about Music or anything related to music but in a more diverse sense like Film Scores, Theme tunes or Adverts like you mentioned.

It might be worth me suggesting but it's early days yet.

Conclusion: Fantastic song and great work by that guy.

    I'm not jealous...................................................."B*****d!"

Ooft. Another demon performance from Jon.
Has he signed up on here? I think he was PerfomingChimp on MR.

@Monquixote - can you move this to the Music section? Ta

Seriously? This guy was on the old forum? Never heard of him before but I loved it, and let's not forget the wonderful vocal performance too.

  • WOW !  -  what a great start to my day, thanks for the Jon Gomm link @Kebabkid

Fantastic playing, he just took ownership of that song, real nice feel.

I thought the vocals were nice but a bit formulaic though.

Just love Jon's guitar, well played and well loved (& very well played too)

who is that awful annoying voice on the Sainsbury one ?
just because you don't, doesn't mean you can't
just because you do, doesn't mean you should.

No idea Bertie and it's not great is it? I was more interested in the arrangement i.e. song being done on acoustic as that's currently the sort of thing I'm doing.

This KT Tunstall version doesn't really veer away too much from the original but it's got a nice, light feel and good performance by KT.

She also does a great, looper version of The Jackson 5's "I want you back"
