James Tyler Variax Battery Issue

What's Hot
Can anyone please help with a battery issue on James Tyler JTV variax guitar .

I put it away last year and dug it out yesterday but cannot get the battery charger to recognise the battery ( it does not light up  ) .

Would this indicate that the battery is dead or the charger faulty ?

Should the charger still light up with a dead battery , I've left it in the charger for over an hour with no joy .

Any help would be appreciated , it is just that I do not want to order a battery just to find out it is the charger ( and vice versa).

If the battery isn't being recognised by the charger, its likely that the battery is kaput. IIRC, once the Lithium Ion cell inside these drops below a critical threshold, it will not accept charge.

Quick question  - are you 100% sure that the power supply you are using with the charger is the right one? They were unique to the Variax Charger  and not a 'normal' Line6 PSU.

    I hope that helps. :-)

  • Thanks for answer.
The charger is original and was working  but the guitar has been in storage for a year.

I just wanted to make sure it was the battery rather than the charger.

Will get a new battery ordered and hopefully it will work.

    Thanks again
