Chris Buck and the Gamechanger Light reverb pedal.

This guy could sell me anything with his playing, but it does sound like a pretty decent spring+ reverb.

Chris Buck could play a banjo strung with rubber bands and you'd swear it was a a '59 burst with pickups wound with angels' hair, but IMO the reverb is making it worse, not better.

All I can hear the Gamechanger pedal doing is adding disordant clashing sounds in the background. I thought maybe it was user error, but I've just listened to the demo on the Gamechanger website (oh fuck, my ears...), and nope, that's what it's meant to sound like.

The Gamechanger Plus pedal was very cool, but everything I've heard from them since just doesn't sound good to my ears.

It's all "look, we've invented a gimmicky way of making a worse version of something that already exists! That'll be £300, please. Form an orderly queue."

    I don't get it.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

Saw the Andertons vid yesterday. What a gorgeous sounding pedal. Alas too expensive for me.

Great track but the reverb isn’t the draw here, his musical and playing ability are.  Amazing stuff.

I was underwhelmed by the reverb but I liked the guitar and the playing.
The reverb just seems like a marketing gimmick.
Is it a Reverend he's playing?

I may be wrong but its likely to be a Yamaha Revstar of some type. Pretty sure he was an endorsee for a while, maybe still is?
    How very rock and roll

Ah, I knew it had a 'Rev' in it somewhere.

Chris really is on a higher plain than most, did anyone else see this from Paul Davids where he got 10 youtubers to play a short solo over the same backing, really fascinating and some great stuff, but Chris at the end nailed it. Just one request, he needs a proper platform to create music, not a fan of Buck and Evans, would love to see him do an instrumental album with some top notch players (let’s stick Vinny on drums and Tal on bass, if it was good enough for Jeff Beck).

Yeah saw that. He even posted a breakdown of his solo and the tab. Very impressed.

    Really enjoyed that!
Chris Buck and Pete Thorn for me for both playing and tone. Makes a nice change from the shred collabs that I don’t watch.

I quite like the reverb. Sounds heaps better than the awful spaceman one I had.

These small spring based reverbs do suffer from clanky and metallic sounds, but this is a much better example than others I've heard.

  • I have to admit I'm not really that interested by this pedal, not least because I've just bought a Topanga, but wow, I could (and probably will) watch that video again and again. Fantastic playing, great tone.

Same tune without the trashy reverb at 0:15 in this video from a while back:

I should admit at first I didn't like the sound of the pedal too, but after listing this tune a few times I started enjoying that sound pretty much. Might be just a tune though

  • Love the look of the pedal, but just can’t get with the sound of the reverb. Something about shorter spring tanks really isn’t for me. If they did one twice the length though...
