How stiff can you make a Floyd Rose?

What's Hot
I have never liked playing loose-feeling trems
I always fit all 5 springs in traditional Strat and PRS trems

Can a FR trem be adjusted to be quite stiff?

You can put five springs on, although some back-routed Floyds have a clamp bar screwed to the block to stop the springs falling out during extreme pull-ups, so you'll need to remove that (and not do it).

They still never feel as tight as a Strat or a PRS with five springs on though - I've got five on the RG550 I'm borrowing at the moment and it's still easier to move than my Strat and PRS which only have three and four.

You could try the Gotoh high tension springs

I borrowed a friend's Charvel that was set up with five springs and I had to push with the heel of my hand to move it because I couldn't budge it with my fingers.

    So pretty stiff.
