AT2020 hum

Plugged in my AT2020 and got a hum under the recording. Changed the cable, still there. Changed the mic for another phantom powered condenser (Rode M3) and the hum has gone. Assume it's the mic. If so, do I send it back? Never raced or rallied and spent most of it's time in the box - don't use it much.
