Don’t understand how a haircut or style can be pompous?
    Can you explain?

Mark Knopfler during the Dire Straits days. No amount of headband wearing could disguise the fact he was ‘thinning’. To compound the felony, he then added the ‘grow the back long’ distraction technique....

I’ve been watching a bunch of Uli Jon Roth videos and the thinner his hair gets on top the wider his bandana thing gets. Maybe that’s better than the Billy Gibbons hat on a hat approach.

The Edge and Richard Thompson have fully embraced the hat option - whereas MK now seems to accept baldness. I think it’s been quite a journey for him....

I sometimes watch Tim Pierce on YouTube and if you watch them out of sequence there is some leaping about between thinning hair and baseball caps. But on one of the shows he was talking about doing some filming and the director told him to wear a hat because the lights were reflecting off his head so maybe it’s a just a professional thing to do.
Whenever I watch Billy Gibbons, who literally wears two hats at once, I always think how sweaty his head must be by the end of a show.
