Making a speaker cab

A little while ago on MR forum I asked about plans for building a cab. Well I found a series of really good YouTube vids of a French (maybe French Canadian) chap building a clone of a Marshall 1912 cab. 

Well I have got my build underway and so far so good. My next step is to glue it together, at the moment it's just screwed. After that I'll need to get some corners and then go for the routing...

Just some standard tolex. As its my first build I want to keep things simple. I can't decide if I want to do it black or go blingy and do a white one.

I like that, watch the rounding over bit on the edge of the screw heads as you go by.  #:-S Not that I'd know anything about that, no not me, no sir.

I've buried the screw heads halfway into the ply so with any luck the round over bit will miss them... That's the theory anyway.

A bit more progress. My first real attempting at routing and painful lesson number 1, you need to change the template guide roller on your router bit to turn it from an ovolo bit to a round over bit. I discovered this after I routed the edges, so it's out with a sanding block for me! ATM it has very nice lines along it like a kitchen work top! I didn't notice until I was finished.

Good work my friend, you are doing fine.  How did you fix the grill cloth so neatly?

Funny you should mention the grill cloth. I was going to ask how Fender managed to apply it so evenly as mine was all wonky and all over the shop! It's really tough to get it straight. I just used large staples to attach it to the baffle.

I'm just gathering the courage to try my hand at putting the tolex on. I think it's going to be tricky.

Well, after a year of drubs and drabs I'm almost finished. I just need to wire it up now. I'm pretty pleased with myself, it's turned out better than I expected.

Mega necro bump. I decided to make a head shell for my rack mount Groove Tubes amp to go with the cab. Thought I'd post my progress so far.
