I was expecting a more traditional armoured van.

possibly chosen so it didn't look like an armoured car, blending in and all that. 

I found it rather telling that there didn't seem to be any attempt to inform the authorities, probably be an exercise in futility I guess.

 Prinsloo is the founder and owner of The Edge Shooting Academy. 
A slightly more capable driver than your average Hermes delivery agent...

Pretty sure there were two armed guards in the back of his bakkie too, you can see the heads moving side to side.
