Cheap TC Electronic AEON Sustainer at Gear4Music

Gear4Music email from today said that they're selling the Aeon for £29, about half price - Link

Judging by the reviews, it doesn't seem like it's as good as an eBow, seems like the sound is a bit thinner. Then again, it is a lot cheaper and maybe someone will find a use.

I did just that this morning and decided against, even at that price.

I’ve read mixed, and checked a bit of YouTube too. It’s not going to be a regular use thing for me, useful for the occasional recording perhaps.

I picked one of these up too. I wasn’t sure about the mixed reviews but I watched a comparison video comparing it to a ‘proper’ ebow and it didn’t look too bad. For £29 I think it’s worth a punt.

There is also the Joyo Infinite Sustainer, never used one but looks like a viable option compared to the eBow

I checked out a comparison review on Youtube - sound wise it seemed to be good, but moving from one string to another seemed to be difficult for the reviewer, due to the design of the product. The Joyo and t he real ebow did not have the same problem.  That has put me off. Sounded good though.

Sold mine inside a couple of days of having it. On the other hand I've had my current EBow for 20years.

I had one.  It was horrific piece of shit.   I used it in one band for one song.   Used it for a couple of gigs.

My ebow always worked spot on, no issues at  all.   In comparison, the Aeon, didn't register some of  the notes at all, so completely messed up that solo.  Got rid of it and bought another ebow.

I just got mine, I figured for £30 if it's dogshit I can always send it back - the negative reviews worried me.

It seems to work just fine. You need to press down just a touch with the bare strings, but it does what it sets out to do. For the price its fine for messing around with, for me.

Yeah mine came yesterday and I agree with Bidley’s comments. I think it will take some practice to get right every time. I found if I kind of do a hammer on for the first note to help get it going it is fine from then and you don’t have to press as hard with the Aeon then.

Got mine today and it works fine for me.  It needs a slide in or hammer on to get the note ringing but then it's fine.  It's been some years since I had an Ebow so I can't compare but for £30 and the amount I will use it I'm happy with it.
