EVH5150III 100 watter footswitch button for loop issue

I have a EVH5150100 watt head which is used but new to me
When the light on the footswitch is lit up the loop is disengaged which seems odd way to do it.
Is this normal for these amps or is there an issue, The footswitch works ok in so much as it turns the loop on and off but seems to do it arse backwards

You probably sorted this out yonks ago but you need to hold the loop pedal down when you power up the head.
