edited August 2014 in Amps £

NOW SOLD.

This is the best amp Fender never made - Combining the best from the blackface and tweed era with superb reverb and tremolo. This has also been professionally upgraded by Charlie Chandler's amp tech ( who told me it is the best sounding amp he has ever heard or worked on) in consultation with Steve Carr to now include a double footswitch which controls the reverb and tremelo that is not available on the stock model. Careful home use only - This is as good as new but a lot less than the £2100 rrp. Only selling as I almost exclusively play acoustic these days. Any questions feel free to ask. Collection only from Guildford in Surrey.

£1400.

Long before the birth of Carr Amplifiers, Steve Carr spent years playing, repairing, modifying and intently listening to classic guitar amps. The Rambler was one of his earliest signature designs, and today it is still one of his most popular models. Why? It's no accident that the Rambler succeeds in delivering classic American 'deluxe' tone with dramatically expanded clean headroom, solid bass response and the option of 28 watt pentode or 14 watt triode operation. The Rambler simply reflects a desire to improve and refine the original concept of an appropriately powered 1x12 club amp with reverb and tremolo. Rambler owners describe their amps as being warm, full and round, with a surprisingly high threshold of clean tone, (which also makes the Rambler uniquely suited to virtually any overdrive pedal ever built). The Rambler is considered by many to be the quintessential club amp, voiced to meet the needs of virtually any player, and all types of music.

The Rambler is primarily a clean amp, but it has a great tone and handles pedals extremely well. It favours Fender-type guitars, bringing out previously unheard depth and richness in single-coil pick-ups. The Rambler has limits to its headroom and the class A Cathode feel is a little more diffuse and yielding. It has a great reverb and tremolo built in. People that have never cared for tremolo find themselves seduced by it in the Rambler. The Rambler has a slightly warmer, softer clean tone that shimmers in crystalline fashion. It can be a great live amp or at home and is a favourite of blues players, jazzers, rockabillies, and country twangers.
