I saw James support The Smiths in (I think) 1985 at the Albert Hall.  Rubbish acoustics back then, but up there as one of my fave gigs of all time - and that's saying something.

The only band, who've ever made me cry like a baby on first listening/viewing of a song

It's a magical video, but honestly, it's a devastating watch!

A lot of my friends were into them between Gold Mother and Laid.  I always quite liked them but it wasn't until She's a Star that I really sat up and took notice.  Love that song - I even bought that one on CD single (remember those?)

Good thread - I'll have to check out some more of their stuff.  I don't think I've heard anything post 1997.

And yeah, that Moving On video..... wow.
Some of the gear, some idea

…or not, as it’s just been postponed. Again. Due to ‘damp ground’ :D

'Sit Down' might be one of the best-arranged pop songs in history. Brilliantly nuanced, every layer incredibly well-thought out and it's mixed perfectly.

Kept from the coveted No. 1 spot by 'The One and Only' by Chesney Hawkes.
