Been playing with the pedal all day and I'm really loving it so far.

There's a great choice of tones that you can get from just the pedal and guitar vol/tone/pickups that will certainly keep me busy for a long while to come.

I got the pedal to try and make up for the lack of an amp and give me some valve-like sounds (currently running my HD500x into a 5.1 system because I made strange choices for my rig purchases). And for that it does an excellent job. I've got it running from my guitar directly into the HD500x, with no effects other than an amp model and the sound is fantastic.

But then again this is my first distortion pedal and I severely lack experience, so take the words for what you will.

And it's broke...

Went to turn the pedal on today and nothing. LEDs light up, but no signal. Bypass works and strangely the boost works, but not the normal overdrive. Replacement should be here on Thursday.

Ehx reliability seems to be going a wee bit downhill. Quite a lot, in fact... I'm always worrying about my Qtron.

So much, I doubt I'd gig it without a backup. And as I'm hopefully starting a funk band, that's a potentially big deal!

How big of an issue is EHX's reliability? Last thing I want is the replacement breaking down when it's just out of warranty

Hit and miss, it seems.  I've got a double muff and a Qtron. Both are fine. 

Although the double muff was double muff number 2, because the first had its switch go...

I've had lots of EHX pedals. My experience is the new ones aren't as reliable as some of the other big brands, but aren't as bad as the old big box New York ones which blew up if you looked at them funny.

I gigged a couple of modern EHX pedals for years and they never let me down.
