Building a new board - stuff needed!!

moz91moz91 Frets: 38

Putting together a small, basic pedalboard on a reasonably small budget, could do with the following If anyone can help!

  • Basic power supply (Ideally one of the old JohnnyShredFreak knockoff's of the Diago PowerStation)
  • Boss GE-7 or similar
  • Dual-latching footswitch for amp channels & reverb (lost the one that came with my Blackstar). One of the teeny mini ones would be cool...
  • Basic overdrive/boost, nothing too fancy for now... Any sort of TS would do just fine
  • About ten right angled mono 1/4inch jacks
  • TU2, polytune, korg pitchblack etc... - Any sort of basic, cheap tuner!

I've got a Dano Transparent OD V2 and a Marshall 2 button stereo jack footswitch, modded with two LEDs that run off 9v battery or DC power. I could do those and chuck in a few of my spare patch cables (at least 5, maybe more) for £35 delivered?

  • MXR 6 Band EQ (basically new) and a Polytune Noir going if its any interest?

Bidley - I'll take the footswitch and patch cables, pm me!

Does the mxr 6 band have a volume slider or is it just 6 eqs? Could really do with the volume slider (ala ge7) as its gonna be a lead boost! Polytune looks cool, though!

  • No the MXR doesn't have the volume but as you boost the frequencies the volume goes up anyway. I planned on using it for a lead boost to add some midrange but found the KOT worked better for my rig. I will say it's a hell of a lot quieter than the GE7 though. Unless you get a modded one they are noisy as hell.

  • TC polytune - 45 posted.
Also I have three Line 6 M5 pedals, and only use two so I have a spare one of those too I can probably part with.

Thinking an mxr 10band eq might be the way to go...

If you really do need the volume it's a much better choice than the Boss. Do bear in mind though it's a 24v power supply. Bit of a pain.

True, that would be a ballache... 18v isn't it?
Suppose I could just get a mid boost from a decent ts9 and use a microamp int loop for a volume boost...
0reaction image LOL 0reaction image Wow! 0reaction image Wisdom
  • Sorry yes it is 18v. TS will give you a mid boost indeed. Probably the right one too. If you want a clean boost for the loop the best one you'll find is the Rothwell. Either the F1 or the Atomic. The only boost I found that is so transparent you can use it on acoustic. No colour to it whatsoever.

That's definitely an option. Ive got a microamp somewhere, ill see what sort of boost it gives me int loop.
John A - I'll settle for that tuner and a few patch leads!

Now sorted for OD, Tuner, Foootswitch, EQ and a few patch cables.

Still need a power supply, a few right angled jacks, and maybe a basic delay pedal

Geepers - How much you willing to let the M5 go for?
