@ronnyb Yeah, I saw him at The 100 Club just before the first lockdown.  He's a top guy isn't he - I got a signed CD and had a quick chat.  Blistering player, one of my faves.

That's the Strat Pack thing. I think Gary only did one song because he had an injured hand?

I have the whole thing on DVD somewhere, it's a slightly odd mix of things with a young Amy Winehouse ( well, I guess she never got to be an old Amy Winehouse) and members of the Crickets and Brian May.

Is that the one where Paul Rodgers just uses it as showcase for his kids?

Ha, yes I think so.  The Skip function on my DVD player definitely got used.

Here's Brian May  doing an adequate job of Alright Now and some hint that Queen +Paul Rodgers could have been a whole lot better than it was...

The Amy Winehouse performances on this popped up on my YouTube feed the other day, and are terrific. She really was an electric talent and such a brilliant performer. A real shame what happened

To the question posed by the OP, I think anyone in the audience who wasn’t a die hard GM fan would have felt ready for something different by the end of that performance, so it was probably quite a good slot to have assuming you weren’t planning on playing a hyperbolic rendition of Red House.

Out of interest, who DID go in to bat next?

On the DVD running order it's ...Jamie Cullum.

No, I don't know why either.

On the DVD there was just one song but she must have done a short set on the night as there are a few songs on youtube.

Jamie Cullum did a rendition of Angel. And then Amy Winehouse came on.

I'm sure - but not a patch on Gary I'm afraid.  This one is pretty damned good too:

A friend of mine was in a Dublin bar and spotted this picture on the wall.  I'm sure some of you may also have seen it.  Apparently the landlord took the picture in the bar many years previously.  It's a fantastic photo and still brings a lump to my throat.

Jamie Cullum lives near me. If I bump into him I'll ask what it was like to follow Gary Moore onstage after that performance ;-)

I actually think that Gary Moore had a wee bit too much dirt in his sound there. GM really was one of the greats.

It was a really good performance by him, and a good choice of song too.
Odd that, Amy Winehouse lived just up the road from me, in Camden.

I was there....I was never a fan of Moore so it wasn't a memorable performance for me, can't remember if Cullum followed or not, possibly. Not my fave gig, didn't sell out either.

Coincidentally, Amy was born at the same hospital as my two daughters (chase farm),and lived in Southgate round the corner from us, before she moved to Camden. We met her in one of the local pubs in Southgate not long after after we moved in to our house in April 2002 (I think she moved to Camden in 2003) and she became a huge influence on my eldest daughter, Lydia, who absolutely loved her and we even played a few Amy tracks with various bands - here's one we did with Lydia singing and me on guitar:
