Presumably we still can't disconnect from a thread that we start?

The most annoying thing on here is that once you start a thread you keep getting notifications until it dies. I started a thread once and it ran and ran, it was the bane of my life for a month or two. I pity whoever started the Friday Humour thread (great though it is!).

Is there really no way for a mod to hack in and disconnect someone if a thread gets tiresome? I was going to start something this morning that I thought could be interesting, but then I thought again and I have shelved the idea.

The only way you can do it is to switch off notifications for your own threads, and bookmark the ones you do want notifications for.

I've started lots of thread here,  many of them during my admin era, in which I've now got zero (or less) interest.

Rather than continuing to get updates on all of those, I've switched off my notifications option.

For threads where I do want updates, whether I've started them or not, I actively choose to receive updates by bookmarking the thread individually.

One of the things that was so amazing about the Gibson R8s in that Peach deal was they were so great you could start a thread about them and have it adopted by an admin account so you didn't have to get all the notifications.

Go into your profile.

Then Notification Preferences (on the left)

Untick all the stuff you don't want, including getting notified about your own posts.

Then you can use the STAR button on individual threads when you want to be notified about them. Whether they are yours or someone else's.

Job done.
