NI Komplete 13

Confused here. To buy the regular version of K13 it’s about £550

To buy Komplete 13 Select (basically the lite version) is about £150. You can then upgrade to the regular version for about £200. 

Am I missing something? Seems by doing the two step process above you can save about £200?

Looks a great deal, something I have been mulling over myself - I was waiting for a discount and maybe pushing the boat out to Ultimate.

They do the big sale in June/July, I think, that's when I usually upgrade.

If you get the physical version with the hard drive does that mean you don’t have to download anything and use your computers hard drive? You just use the one bundles with Komplete?

Yeah, it contains all the install files.  There will still be a load of updates to pull down after, but the bulk of it is there.

You still have to install the vsts somewhere, usually another hard drive.

No, thinking about getting K13 Select for now and upgrading next time there’s a sale on 

using K13 Start and it’s great, wouldn’t mind a bit MOAR though

From memory the sale is usually around the beginning of June and upgrades are usually 50% off.

I got into Komplete by buying a used copy of 9 Ultimate (hard drive). I then bought a couple of upgrades in sales. Once you have ultimate, the progressive version upgrades are usually 150-180 quid in the sale. A steal IMO. My advice would be to upgrade every couple of versions to make it worth it. So, I went from 9 to 11 to 13. That way you get more for your money. 11-13 was a cracking bit of value as there are a lot of new things in there that individually cost a lot.

All versions of Komplete are IMO phenomenal and pretty much essential if you are seriously into recording. Just so many things in there. The individual effects are brilliant too.

I'm very much liking GR6, so much better than GR5, and not just as a guitar plug in. It's a brilliant set of FX for anything.

Soundtoys 5 is my next thing - I'll get that in the next sale, the full lot. Their stuff simply sounds great. I find that with Soundtoys I really can polish a turd!!
