Every now and then an old story, often involving a death of a celebrity resurfaces on the BBC News website. A few people clicking on it for some unknown reason I suspect pushes it up on search engines and it snowballs into being one of the top stories on the BBC News pages several years after it was originally posted. People then post it on forums etc as news until someone says “hang on…”

It happens regularly, but what puzzles me is how to snowballs from an old story to a most-read.
