Just seen this - His best days were before I recall following the game - I was around 9/10 when he retired - So only really know of him via reputation - Sad days for LFC fans - But he will always be remember for his part in the win over Germany in 66

I recall a story about him and that debateable goal that came of the bar - He would have been 1st on the scene, ahead of any German player, if the ball had not already crossed the line, for a simple tap in - Instead he peeled away to celebrate the goal - As a goal scorer the natural instinct would have been to finish of the job but he knew he did not need to do so - So I accept that side of the story
