**** Withdrawn **** Schecter C7 Deluxe Guitar Bass Hybrid Monstrosity 7 StringFirstly forgive me for the Clearwater Conversions nature of this beast! Frankenstein hybrid bass/guitar. Lower 3 strings are EAD in the bass register and top 4 strings are DGBE in the guitar register. Proof of concept which works as an instrument but cosmetics weren't really a consideration. Finger or hybrid picking allows simultaneous bass and guitar parts a la Charlie Hunter if you have the finger independence. Sadly, as is often the way I've lost interest in the concept and project. Neck pickup is a custom wound one-off by Palfray guitars, it's actually two single coil pickups in one – a 3 string pickup for the bass side and 4 string pickup for the guitar side. These are wired to their own stacked vol/tone pots and wired to a stereo jack to be run to two different amps or effects chains etc. However something is amiss with the wiring as the volume rolled off introduces a hum some sort of grounding or earthing issue which is beyond my electronic skills to rectify. The bridge pickup is a Cats Whisker PAF type, the pole pieces for the bass side have been removed to reduce the output from the bass side. This is a normal pickup picking up all 7 strings and is part of the guitar circuit. Neck pickup bass side runs to its vol/tone and then out. Guitar side is neck pickup treble side and the catswhisker PAF with a standard 3 way selector – neck treble side only > neck treble side only and bridge (all strings) > bridge (all strings). Cheap Bigsby type tremolo for the treble side only. Bass side string through relocated and bass ferrules fitted (badly). Strung with an Ernie Ball 9 string slinky set which works really well and the tension and intonation is good across all 7 strings. Aside from the modifications plenty of knocks and bumps, and a couple of small finish cracks in the neck pocket. Back of the neck is clean but I've no idea why it's two different shades either side of the headstocks scarf joint. Screw holes around the bridge and controls are from a Roland GK2 pickup being fitted previously. Original Schecter pickups and pole pieces for the Cats Whisker PAF included. Withdrawn £175 (was £200) posted in the UK. Also open to trades or offers. More pics here |
