Just for the Hell of it. I'm recalling some of the Labels of my Brother's 45's that I used to peruse when I was a kid.

  • I remember RAK, had the Mickie Most stuff like Mud IIRC.
Isaac Hayes' Shaft was on Stax (Staxx?) I remember.
    Stackridge on Rocket Records.
I could come up with a fair number I guess if I were to go through my collection.

Is this Discussion about the graphic design of the paper labels on vinyl records or are other aspects allowed?

I rather like the small print copyright warning legend that went around the edge of the label on Ian Dury And The Blockheads records featuring the Barney Bubbles blockhead logo.

I quite liked the Casablanca label, for some reason.

I had a couple of singles from Stiff with the If it ain’t Stiff it ain’t worth a Fuck wording which seemed a bit shocking, maybe, at the time. Quite a range of acts on there including Tracey Ullman.

2Tone just creeps in there as 1979 to 1986. Very much their own styling and whilst their stock in trade was ska influenced bands there were a few other things like an Elvis Costello single and The Higsons.

Heavy Metal Records started in 1978. Based in a recording studio that’s about three miles from where I lived and I went past it on the way to visit my mother for the last thirty years. So always had a bit of a fascination for me.

No one's mentioned Vertigo, which had a very cool A-side logo.
