    Interesting that they’re not actually Dynasonic pickups. Bit of a cheeky slight of hand by Fender there. The DeArmond 2k pickups are fabulous and Gretsch used them in the early and now  sought after electromatics but they’re nothing  like Dynas.

    IIRC the early Gretsches used the DeArmond 2000 under the Dynasonic label. The '2k' designation applied/applies to the 90s-onwards Fender-owned DeArmond model which looked v similar but was built quite differently using a P90-type bar magnet arrangement. There's also a later 2000 model which is built in the same +/- way as the original. (I had a Korean G5125 with these on and they were convincingly Dyna-ish.) Then there's the modern but vintage-spec Gretsch Dyna, and TVJ and SD equivalents. Either way, as you say the 2k is a different beast. Sounds pretty good though!
